KARACHI: The Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, will host the four-day 18th Aalmi Urdu Conference 2025 – “Jashan-e-Pakistan” from December 25 to 28, showcasing Pakistan’s literary heritage and cultural diversity.
Announcing the event at a press conference, Arts Council President Muhammad Ahmed Shah highlighted the conference’s history of promoting dialogue and peace through literature, noting that it was launched 18 years ago during a period of ethnic violence. He said the conference celebrates Urdu alongside Pakistan’s regional languages, featuring writers and poets from across the country and internationally.
Renowned poetess Zehra Nigah emphasized that literature and language are pillars for ethical and cultural development, and that all Pakistani languages deserve equal respect. Vice President Munawar Saeed and educationist Prof. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui praised the Arts Council’s efforts in engaging youth and sustaining Karachi’s reputation as a cultural hub.
The conference will highlight Pakistani literature from 1947 to the present, with sessions on major poets, novelists, and short story writers, celebrating the country’s literary legacy while fostering dialogue and cultural exchange.
