At least 39,699 Palestinians have died, with 22 of these in the past 24 hours, and 91,722 have been injured. As hostilities continue, Israel is preparing for potential further attacks

GAZA: Israeli forces have intensified airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of at least 25 Palestinians, according to local medics. The strikes have targeted various locations, including the Al-Bureij camp, where 15 people were killed, and the Al-Nuseirat camp, which saw four fatalities. Both camps are considered by Israel to be strongholds of resistance fighters. Additional airstrikes in Gaza City and Khan Younis resulted in six more deaths.

In response, Hamas and Islamic Jihad have fired anti-tank rockets and mortar bombs at Israeli positions, causing casualties among Israeli forces. The Israeli military has claimed responsibility for targeting several military sites, including rocket launch pads. Gaza’s health ministry reports that at least 39,699 Palestinians have died, with 22 of these in the past 24 hours, and 91,722 have been injured. As hostilities continue, Israel is preparing for potential further attacks, especially in light of threats from Iran and Hezbollah following the recent assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr. What began as a conflict confined to Gaza is now raising concerns about a broader regional war.

In Gaza, families have been gathering at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis to mourn and bury their deceased relatives. Reuters footage captured the somber scenes of relatives moving bodies in plastic bags and holding special prayers before the funerals. The Israeli military has renewed evacuation orders for Palestinian residents in several districts of eastern Khan Younis, warning of forceful action against fighters launching rockets from these areas. Evacuation orders were posted on social media and communicated to residents via text and audio messages.

The World Central Kitchen (WCK), a US-based humanitarian organization, reported that Palestinian staff member Nadi Sallout was killed near Deir Al-Balah on Wednesday. The WCK is seeking more information about the incident, while the Israeli military stated it was unaware but is in communication with the organization. This follows an earlier incident in April when seven WCK employees were killed in an Israeli airstrike, leading to a temporary suspension of the organization’s operations.
