KHAIRPUR: Vibrant orientation sessions were held at the Benazir Chair and Faculty of Management Sciences of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur. Organized by the Faculty of Arts and Languages and the Faculty of Management Sciences, the events welcomed newly admitted students and marked their formal introduction to university life and the broader campus community.

He welcomed the students warmly, shared his vision for the university, and highlighted the range of academic and extracurricular facilities available. Dr. Khushk explained that the orientation was designed to familiarise students with university life and encourage active participation.
Congratulating students on securing admission, he noted that only 22% of the country’s youth reach higher education. He reflected on the history of SALU, established in 1976 under the University of Sindh and becoming a full-fledged university in 1987, now the third-largest in Sindh.

He also highlighted scholarship opportunities, noting that scholarships worth Rs. 13 crore had already been awarded. Using Thomas Edison’s example, he motivated students to stay positive and proactive, and announced an upcoming Student Week, led entirely by students.
The SALU VC encouraged them to focus on skill development, internships, and additional courses to enhance their employability. For commerce students, he underlined the importance of their field in national economic development. He highlighted initiatives such as the university committee for date exports, aimed at creating market linkages and internship opportunities.

He encouraged them to seek guidance from their heads of department and teachers, stressing the value of digital literacy and multilingual skills. Professor Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, Dean of Management Sciences, welcomed students of IBA and Economics and praised the vice chancellor’s student-centric approach.
