Three people, including two women and a child, died when the roof of a house collapsed in Tank

ISLAMABAD: Severe monsoon rains have caused widespread devastation across Pakistan, leading to the collapse of roofs in various regions and resulting in 12 fatalities and numerous injuries. The severe weather has particularly impacted areas with deteriorating housing conditions. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the village of Kot Murtaza in Tank district experienced a tragic roof collapse in a three-room house, claiming the lives of three individuals, including two women and a child. Heavy rains were identified as the primary cause of this disaster.
The incident also left three people injured, who have been transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur expressed his condolences and announced financial aid for the bereaved families. In Lower Dir’s Samar Bagh area, a young girl was killed when the veranda of her house collapsed. Her body was recovered from the debris by locals and family members. Similarly, in Charsadda district, a roof collapse in Umarzai Chandaro Dag resulted in two injuries, with 60-year-old Jannat Bibi succumbing to her injuries at a local hospital.
In Karak’s Takht Nasrati tehsil, rising floodwaters led to the loss of four lives. Rescue 1122 teams conducted operations to recover the victims’ bodies, including 60-year-old Aurangzeb, 12-year-old Aryan (son of Alamzeb), 11-year-old Asad Umar, and 26-year-old Shehzad (son of Muhammad Ayaz). In Sindh’s Jamshoro district, ongoing rains have resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including a woman. The rainfall has also caused flooding in several areas, including Kohistan, where communication systems have been severely disrupted.
In Punjab’s Jhelum district, a woman who had been injured in a roof collapse incident four days prior has died from her injuries. The earlier incident had already claimed the life of her ten-year-old daughter. Fortunately, her newborn son, who was also injured, is reported to be in stable condition. These incidents highlight the urgent need for improved infrastructure and safety measures to mitigate the risks posed by severe weather conditions, as Pakistan continues to face challenges during the monsoon season.
