KARACHI: Karachi has experienced intermittent light and heavy rainfall throughout the night, bringing some respite from the intense heat and improving the weather conditions across the city. According to the Meteorological Department, more rainfall is anticipated within the next 24 hours, which is expected to further lower temperatures and provide continued comfort to residents.
In Punjab, rain has impacted several districts, including Rawalpindi, Taxila, and Lahore. Persistent rainfall in Islamabad and Rawalpindi has resulted in flooding in low-lying areas, creating substantial challenges for local residents. The rainfall has led to water accumulation on roads and streets, complicating daily commutes and increasing the risk of accidents.
Balochistan has been severely affected by the recent rains, with the situation worsening due to the rising death toll from various rain-related accidents, which has reached twenty-one. Emergency measures have been deployed in the hardest-hit districts to manage the situation and provide aid to those affected. Additionally, the Kaghan Road, a vital route in the region, remains closed after nine days of heavy rain, severely disrupting travel and connectivity.
The Meteorological Department has issued warnings to citizens, advising them to take necessary precautions to mitigate the risks associated with the ongoing and expected rainfall. The department emphasizes the importance of staying informed about weather updates and preparing for potential flooding to minimize disruptions and ensure safety.
