KARACHI: The fIPV (Fractional Inactivated Polio Vaccine) campaign was launched in District Central by Deputy Commissioner Fuad Ghaffar Soomro, alongside District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Abdul Samad Khan. The campaign, running from August 15 to 25, aims to fortify efforts in the eradication of polio within the district.

The inauguration took place at the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Centre in Nazimabad No. 2, where a gathering of key health officials, including members of the District Health Management Team (DHMT) and the District Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC) Central, underscored the importance of the campaign. The presence of these officials highlighted the collaborative approach being taken to ensure the success of the vaccination drive.

During the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Fuad Ghaffar Soomro conducted a thorough review of the technical aspects of the campaign. A particular focus was placed on the use of the jet injector technique — a critical method employed to administer the vaccine safely and painlessly to children. The jet injector is known for its efficiency and precision, making it an essential tool in mass vaccination campaigns.

This technique not only ensures the comfort of the children receiving the vaccine but also increases the efficiency of the vaccination process, allowing for a higher coverage rate within the district. The launch of the fIPV campaign represents a significant step towards protecting the health and well-being of children in District Central. By providing fractional doses of the polio vaccine, the campaign aims to boost immunity levels among children, contributing to the broader goal of eradicating polio from Pakistan.

Deputy Commissioner Soomro emphasized the importance of vaccination in preventing the spread of polio, urging parents and guardians to ensure their children are vaccinated during the campaign period. They reiterated that the safety and health of the younger population are paramount, and the success of the fIPV campaign is critical to achieving a polio-free future.

The fIPV campaign in District Central is a vital initiative in the ongoing battle against polio, with the local government and health officials working in tandem to safeguard the health of children. The use of advanced techniques such as the jet injector highlights the commitment to delivering safe and effective vaccines, reinforcing the district’s dedication to eradicating polio and securing a healthier future for all.
