KARACHI: The daughter of a man, who died from electrocution, has filed a lawsuit against K-Electric, claiming damages exceeding Rs30 million. The case, lodged at the City Court, alleges that K-Electric’s negligence led to the death of her father, Gulzar.
According to the petition, Gulzar, a resident of Landhi Manshera Colony and a driver by profession, was electrocuted on July 20 in Majid Colony area due to fallen electric wires in water accumulated on the road. A video of the incident has circulated on social media. The petition highlights that the rescue services faced difficulties removing Gulzar’s body and transporting it to the hospital. It argues that K-Electric is responsible for maintaining electrical infrastructure and ensuring safety.
The lawsuit claims that K-Electric’s failure resulted in the death of Gulzar, who was the sole breadwinner for his family and father of six children. The lawsuit seeks Rs30.092 million in damages under the Deaths and Serious Injuries Act. Additionally, the plaintiff has requested the registration of an FIR against K-Electric, while alleging that the police have been unresponsive to the complaint.
