PAKISTAN: The National Computer Emergency Response Team (nCert) has officially refuted false information circulating on social media regarding alleged cyberattacks and the closure of ATMs across the country. In an advisory issued in consultation with the State Bank of Pakistan and other relevant stakeholders, nCert confirmed that no such incidents have occurred, and all banking infrastructure, including ATMs, is operating normally.
The advisory reassures the public that there have been no disruptions in online banking services or ATM operations. nCert urges citizens to disregard the baseless rumors and instead rely on official statements and verified sources for accurate information concerning financial matters.
The advisory also provides critical guidelines to enhance public awareness and safeguard against potential cyber threats. It advises individuals to remain vigilant while using ATMs, to avoid sharing sensitive financial information such as PINs, passwords, user IDs, or OTPs with anyone not directly related to their banking activities, and to be cautious of suspicious links that may be designed to steal personal information.
