Musadik urges political opponents to stop acting like ‘rioters’

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Petroleum Musadik Malik has issued a renewed call for political dialogue, urging political actors to avoid creating unrest and to allow the government to effectively govern. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Malik emphasized the need for unity, contrasting two visions of Pakistan: one of a nation mired in darkness and another of a hopeful, optimistic future driven by its youth.

Malik criticized certain elements he believes are obstructing progress, claiming these individuals do not want to see the country advance. He highlighted the Punjab government’s recent initiative to provide substantial relief on electricity bills, which he noted had been initially announced by the federal government. The relief package, according to Malik, covers 98 percent of households consuming up to 500 units of electricity, while reductions have already been implemented for those using up to 200 units.

Malik reassured that the scheme is designed to benefit all citizens except the wealthy. Additionally, he mentioned ongoing efforts to provide relief in gas prices, which have remained unchanged thus far. He reiterated concerns from earlier statements regarding the events of May 9, raising critical questions about who facilitated, harbored, and financially supported the terrorists involved.
