KARACHI: A spate of violent incidents in Karachi on Thursday resulted in the deaths of two young men and injuries to two others. The violence unfolded across different areas of the city, reflecting ongoing tensions and criminal activity.
In the first incident, a 32-year-old man identified as Arif was shot and killed in Faqir Colony, Orangi Town. Arif, known to be involved in drug trafficking, sustained critical injuries and later died. Police believe the shooting is linked to a turf war between rival drug trafficking groups. The suspect, Tahir, is reportedly associated with a rival gang. Initial investigations suggest possible connections to the ongoing Lyari gang war, which has been marked by violent clashes over the years.
The second incident occurred in Mujahid Colony, Dalmia, where Mohammad Amir, a 23-year-old originally from Khyber district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was gunned down. Amir was targeted by two gunmen on a motorcycle who shot him twice in the neck and chest. The victim was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for a post-mortem examination. Shahzad Ilyas, SHO of Aziz Bhatti Police Station, suggested that the murder might be connected to a longstanding family feud. Police recovered two 30-bore pistol shells from the scene.
In a third incident, a 24-year-old man named Sohail was injured during a quarrel in North Nazimabad, Block S. The specifics of this shooting are still under investigation, and authorities are working to understand the circumstances leading to the violence. Authorities are actively investigating all three cases to uncover the motives behind these attacks and to identify the perpetrators. The series of incidents underscores the challenges faced by Karachi in combating violent crime and maintaining public safety.
