SUKKUR: In a press conference at the Press Club Sukkur, Sindh Minister for Planning, Development, and Energy, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, condemned the recent killing of a Punjab police officer by dacoits, describing it as a tragic event. Shah assured that those responsible for the crime would face severe punishment and announced that preparations for a major operation against the dacoits were underway.

Shah addressed concerns regarding the safety and fitness of vehicles transporting pilgrims to holy sites, stating that the government would ensure that these vehicles are thoroughly checked and certified before departure. He praised the cooperative response of the Iranian government, including the efforts of the governor, who provided care and accommodation for the injured. Responding to queries about the burial of martyrs, Shah noted that while many wished to have their loved ones interred in holy places, the incident occurred far from Mashhad. He emphasized that proximity to the holy site would have been preferable for such arrangements.

On internal party matters, Shah acknowledged the respect for Makhdoom Jamil-ul-Zaman within the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). He clarified that despite differences and grudges, there was no significant issue or forward block forming within the party. Shah reiterated that Jamil-ul-Zaman’s support for Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari becoming Prime Minister was well-known and respected.

Through initiatives like SIPRA and solar power projects, including the distribution of 200,000 solar panels in September and plans for an additional 500,000 panels, the government aims to lower tariffs and enhance energy accessibility. Shah’s comments addressed various aspects of current issues and party dynamics, reflecting the PPP’s commitment to tackling challenges while promoting its achievements and future plans.
