This incident comes just days after a similar tragedy in Iran, where another bus carrying Pakistani pilgrims was involved in an accident. That crash, which occurred in the central province of Yazd, resulted in 35 fatalities and 15 injuries. The pilgrims in that incident were from Larkana, Sindh. Iranian state television reported that the bus, carrying 51 Pakistani pilgrims, overturned and caught fire in front of the Dehshir-Taft checkpoint.
In response to these tragedies, both Iranian and Pakistani foreign ministries have extended their condolences to the families of the deceased. Pakistan’s Foreign Office has requested that the Consul of Pakistan in Zahedan visit the accident site to provide medical relief to the injured and facilitate the repatriation of the deceased back to Pakistan.
