
ISLAMABAD: On Monday, Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the Pakistan Raises Revenue Program (PRRP) during a Steering Committee Meeting. The meeting, which was chaired by Senator Aurangzeb, brought together a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including senior government officials, private sector leaders, and representatives from various agencies.
The high-profile meeting saw participation from Minister of State for Finance & Revenue Ali Parvez Malik, Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Secretary of the Economic Affairs Division, and Secretary of Planning Development and Special Initiatives. Additional attendees included Secretary Maritime Affairs Ms. Tania Airdus, CEO of Waseela Salman Nasir, CEO of Ayesha Spinning Mills Limited Kamran Khalid, Chief Product Officer of Netsol Technologies, and senior officers from the concerned ministries and FBR.
Key private sector stakeholders and relevant agencies were also present, reflecting the comprehensive nature of the discussions. The meeting was centered on devising strategies to bolster Pakistan’s revenue generation capacity. Discussions delved into a range of initiatives and reforms aimed at broadening the tax base, enhancing tax compliance, and minimizing revenue leakages. The committee explored innovative approaches to improve the efficiency of tax collection mechanisms, emphasizing the need for equitable distribution of the tax burden across different sectors of the economy.
