SUKKUR: In response to the ongoing monsoon rains and the subsequent flood threat, Syed Salman Shah, Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh, has announced a significant increase in flood management resources across the province. Over the past 24 hours, PDMA Sindh has deployed an additional 55 heavy-duty de-watering pumps, raising the total number of such pumps to 125.
The newly delivered pumps have been strategically distributed across several rain-affected districts. Karachi districts have received 11 pumps, including Karachi East (2), Karachi West (1), Karachi Central (2), Karachi South (5), Malir (1), Korangi (1), and Kiamari (1). Other districts receiving pumps include Hyderabad (8), Jamshoro (2), Badin (3), Thatta (3), Sujawal (8), Tando Muhammad Khan (3), Tando Allahyar (3), Larkana (5), Mirpurkhas (3), Umerkot (2), and Tharparkar (2). Additionally, significant allocations have been made to Shaheed Benazirabad (13 pumps), Umerkot (2), Nausheroferoz (4), Sanghar (6), Khairpur (5), and Sukkur (33), among others.
In a recent press release, DG PDMA Sindh highlighted the distribution of critical relief supplies throughout the province. The PDMA has provided 26,150 tents, 85,750 mosquito nets, 25,650 mats (chatai), and 25,750 jerrycans to various districts. These supplies have been allocated to Deputy Commissioners in Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Dadu, Matiari, Tando Allah Yar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Sujawal, Sukkur, Badin, Khairpur, Ghotki, Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushero Feroze, Sanghar, Larkana, Qambar Shahdadkot, Kashmore, and Tharparkar.
