KARACHI: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested three individuals, including a woman, involved in smuggling and distributing narcotics under the pretense of an NGO. The operation was conducted in the Landhi area of Karachi.
The ANF’s investigation uncovered that the suspects, led by the female individual, were using human rights work as a facade for their illegal operations. The group was found to be highly organized and sophisticated, focusing on smuggling drugs into Karachi’s universities and hostels.
The arrest was prompted by a tip-off. The woman, identified as the primary drug distributor, was apprehended as she arrived in Karachi from Tando Adam. During her arrest, ANF officials recovered 400 grams of heroin from her possession. Following her detention, the ANF moved swiftly to arrest her accomplices. One male suspect was found with 500 grams of heroin, while another was identified as the group’s leader. The leader was discovered in possession of additional narcotics and illegal weapons.
In total, the ANF seized 1.5 kilograms of heroin from the three suspects. The operation also revealed a range of press cards, press monograms, and fake number plates found in their vehicle, suggesting that the group was using media-related credentials as part of their cover. The arrest and subsequent seizure mark a major success for the ANF, highlighting their ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and its impact on society. The investigation is continuing to uncover further details about the smuggling network and its operations.
