ISLAMABAD: A high-level delegation from Denmark, led by FLSmidth Global CEO Mikko Keto and accompanied by Danish Ambassador Jakob Linulf, met with Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan on Monday to explore potential investment opportunities in Pakistan’s mining sector. The delegation expressed a strong interest in making substantial investments, particularly in mining zones, according to an official statement.
During the meeting, Jam Kamal Khan highlighted Pakistan’s vast mining potential, with a special focus on Balochistan’s untapped resources. He emphasized the opportunities for small-scale mining and processing businesses to be empowered in the region. The minister suggested that FLSmidth, in collaboration with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, could organize awareness sessions and workshops to enhance industry knowledge and skills.
To further support the mining sector, Khan proposed the establishment of sector-specific councils for mining and cement. These councils would facilitate deeper business coordination and matchmaking between local and international stakeholders. He also stressed the importance of adopting a green framework and the transfer of technology under the Pakistan-Denmark Green Framework Engagement.
FLSmidth CEO Mikko Keto acknowledged the Pakistani government’s efforts to protect and promote foreign investment. He expressed a strong desire to increase investment, particularly in the mining sector, signaling a promising partnership between Denmark and Pakistan.
