KARACHI: In a significant breakthrough, the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) has arrested Naveed, a food delivery rider, for his alleged involvement in a series of motorcycle thefts across Karachi. The arrest came after a thorough investigation and analysis of CCTV footage, which led to the identification of Naveed as a suspect in the theft ring.

AVLC officials reported that Naveed was apprehended while actively engaged in stealing motorcycles during his work as a delivery rider for a private food service. The authorities recovered two stolen motorcycles from his possession. The first motorcycle, registered under number KQH-6321, was reported stolen from a customer named Sameer on August 30, 2024. The second motorcycle, with registration number KQA-9914, was found in Karachi’s Kharadar area.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arif Aslam Rao disclosed that Naveed has a documented history of criminal activities, including prior arrests connected to five separate motorcycle theft cases. This history highlights the recurring issue of vehicle theft and the challenges faced by law enforcement in combating such crimes. The investigation underscores the pivotal role of surveillance technology in both the prevention and resolution of vehicle thefts. The ability of CCTV footage to provide critical evidence has proven instrumental in this case, demonstrating its effectiveness in supporting law enforcement efforts.

The case also brings to light a broader concern regarding criminal behavior among individuals in positions of trust, such as delivery riders, and emphasizes the need for enhanced monitoring and security measures. Ensuring the integrity of individuals entrusted with responsibilities and implementing robust checks can help mitigate the risk of such breaches. As Karachi continues to grapple with vehicle-related crimes, the arrest of Naveed serves as a reminder of the persistent challenges and the importance of vigilance in addressing and preventing theft and other criminal activities.
