SUKKUR: Commissioner Sukkur Division Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Khairpur Syed Ahmed Fawad Shah, conducted a visit to the Khairpur Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to review the progress and address operational issues within the zone. During the visit, Commissioner Abbasi evaluated the status of industrial units, including those under construction and those already operational.
The Commissioner emphasized the administration’s commitment to ensuring the Khairpur SEZ fulfills its role effectively, in line with its commitments and pledges. Abbasi reiterated that resolving any challenges faced by the zone is a top priority for both the divisional and district administration. He assured that he and DC Khairpur are prepared to support any organization within the SEZ requiring assistance and encouraged officials to report any operational difficulties they encounter. In his briefing to the Commissioner and DC, Muhammad Ali, Manager of the Khairpur SEZ, reported that the zone currently has nine active units, with one more nearing operational status and 13 units still under construction.
Fayaz Abbasi also highlighted the need for enhanced security measures, specifically requesting the provision of a daily police mobile for patrolling, despite the existing presence of a police station and picket within the zone. Commissioner Abbasi responded positively to the manager’s request, promising to address the security concern and ensure the necessary support is provided to facilitate the smooth operation of the SEZ. The visit underscored the administration’s commitment to supporting industrial growth and ensuring the effective functioning of key economic zones in the region.
