Govt refuses Mengal’s resignation

ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, the government has decided to reject the resignation of Sardar Akhtar Mengal, leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), from his position as a member of the National Assembly. This decision comes as a strategic effort to retain Mengal’s influential role within the Assembly.

A committee has been formed to persuade Mengal to reconsider his resignation. This committee, composed of senior government figures, was established under the directive of a high-ranking government official. The delegation, led by Federal Minister Rana Sanaullah, is expected to meet Mengal at the Parliament Lodges in the near future. The committee’s mission is to convince Mengal to continue his tenure in the Assembly, and if successful, there is a possibility of a subsequent meeting between Mengal and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Mengal’s resignation, which he submitted yesterday, reflects his deep dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs in Balochistan and his perceived failure to effectively advocate for his constituents. In his resignation statement, Mengal voiced his lack of confidence in the state, the President, and the Prime Minister, attributing his decision to the ongoing issues in Balochistan. The government’s move to retain Mengal highlights his significant role within the Assembly and underscores the broader political implications of his potential departure.
