chairman Mohsin Naqvi to lead strategic session on Pakistan cricket’s future

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has scheduled a pivotal meeting and workshop, referred to as the “Connection Camp,” to strategize the future of Pakistan cricket. Set for September 22, the event will be chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The meeting will feature a host of key figures, including head coaches Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten for both red and white-ball formats.
Other attendees will include the heads of international, domestic, and high-performance departments, along with senior cricketers, coaches, and PCB officials. The “Connection Camp” aims to address crucial decisions based on the feedback gathered during the workshop, with a significant focus on potential changes in the team’s leadership structure.
The current leadership, encompassing white-ball captain Babar Azam and Test captain Shan Masood, is under scrutiny. Babar Azam’s role as white-ball captain has come into question following his exclusion from the Champions One-Day Cup captaincy, raising speculation about his future ahead of Pakistan’s tour of Australia, which includes three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals.
Gary Kirsten, who returned to South Africa after submitting a report in July, has previously engaged in discussions regarding captaincy with PCB officials. Mohammad Rizwan has emerged as a potential candidate for captaincy across all formats, and his suitability will be evaluated during the meeting.
The PCB intends to utilize the insights from the “Connection Camp” to make well-informed decisions regarding the future direction of Pakistan cricket and the leadership roles within the team.
