District administration says failure to comply with NOC considered a violation, potentially leading to legal action

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party held a significant rally in Sangjani on Sunday, aiming to showcase its political strength. However, the event faced complications when it exceeded the designated time limit, prompting intervention by the Islamabad Police.

The district administration had granted a no-objection certificate (NOC) allowing the rally from 4 pm to 7 pm. The rally’s extension beyond this deadline was considered a violation of the NOC, which could lead to legal consequences. Despite facing significant hurdles, including roadblocks and containers erected by authorities, PTI supporters successfully reached the venue. PTI leaders, including Hammad Azhar, Sher Afzal Marwat, Raja Nasr Abbas, Jamshed Dasti, and Aoun Abbas Pabi, addressed the enthusiastic crowd.

PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan and Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, were also present on stage. During his speech, Hammad Azhar urged supporters to remain resolute, declaring, “I told you at the Swabi rally that we would make an announcement. Punjab, get ready, we will stand until the last drop of blood.” Azhar criticized the current government, suggesting that the obstacles imposed were a sign of their fear of PTI. He accused the administration of trying to undermine the judiciary to retain power and stressed that the situation would have been much worse without PTI’s commitment to the constitution.

The rally’s impact extended beyond the event site, causing disruptions across the country. Internet signals were interrupted in various regions, leading to difficulties in downloading images and videos on social media platforms such as WhatsApp. Additionally, train services between Islamabad and Rawalpindi experienced delays, with the Railway department attributing these disruptions to the PTI rally. The department noted that trains would have already crossed Jhelum if not for the rally-induced delays. The PTI rally highlighted ongoing political tensions and demonstrated the party’s ability to mobilize significant support despite challenges.
