LANDI KOTAL: The ongoing Koki Khel sit-in has inflicted severe hardships on the residents of Landi Kotal and travelers, with daily losses running into millions of rupees for transporters, traders, and the national treasury, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Landi Kotal leader Murad Hussain Afridi said during a press conference.
Accompanied by JI members GS Irfan Afridi, Shah Afridi, Abdul Rauf Shinwari, Mustafa Shinwari, and Amanullah, Afridi expressed solidarity with the demands of the Koki Khel tribe at the Landi Kotal Press Club. He questioned the decision to prevent the displaced people of Tirah Valley from returning to Rajgal, despite recent assurances from the ISPR spokesperson that no areas are off-limits in Pakistan.
Afridi noted that trade on the Pak-Afghan highway has been halted for over 20 days, resulting in significant financial losses and personal hardships for the people of Landi Kotal. He criticized the government’s lack of serious action to address the issue, describing the situation as unfortunate.
The JI leader called on the government, security forces, and relevant provincial authorities to facilitate the swift return of Tirah Valley’s displaced residents to restore normalcy and allow the transport of goods. He urged the Koki Khel tribe to exempt vehicles carrying essential supplies and passengers from the blockade, stressing that the local population is suffering severely due to the stoppage.
