Green-tech hub aims to Lead in Green technologies and attract global investors at COP29

ISLAMABAD: Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, announced the impending launch of Pakistan’s first Green-Tech Hub (G-TH), a state-of-the-art facility designed to transform the nation’s energy landscape by fostering green technologies, renewable energy, and eco-friendly innovations.
During a webinar on the creation of the G-TH, organized by Paklaunch.com in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC), Alam highlighted that the initiative is backed by the Government of Pakistan, private stakeholders, academic institutions, and international leaders in green technology. The hub aims to position Pakistan as a regional leader in sustainable innovation.
Alam also revealed that efforts are underway to showcase key projects at Pakistan’s Pavilion during the two-week UN-led global climate summit (COP29), scheduled to commence on November 11 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The event is expected to attract 40,000 to 50,000 delegates from over 192 countries, providing an opportunity to draw global investors towards Pakistan’s climate resilience objectives.
“Showcasing these initiatives at COP29 will help attract global and local investors to fund projects critical to Pakistan’s environmental sustainability,” Alam remarked.
At this year’s annual global climate conference, the second-largest gathering of heads of state, international leaders, and civil society members after the UN General Assembly (UNGA), global leaders will strive to finalize the first enhanced transparency framework and establish a new collective quantified goal on climate finance, among other vital issues related to adaptation, mitigation, technology transfer, and technical expertise. Alam emphasized, “The future of technology is green, and the G-TH will represent Pakistan’s best talent, ambition, and innovation.” The hub is set to serve as an incubator for green startups, a research center for advanced technologies, and a collaborative space for entrepreneurs.
