Karachi Police detain suspects linked to traffic officer’s Killing, recover weapons

KARACHI: City police chief Javed Alam Odho announced on Monday the arrest of two suspects implicated in the killings of two individuals, including a traffic police officer, in the Site B police station area. The arrests occurred within 48 hours of the incident. The tragic event took place on September 21 at R.D. Chowk in Shershah, resulting in the deaths of Traffic Police officer Khuda Bakhsh and civilian Ghousullah. According to Odho, the suspects have been identified as Hussein Amin and Ikhlaq Ishfaq. Police recovered two 9mm pistols and a stolen motorcycle from their possession. Investigations revealed that one suspect has been involved in over 30 criminal cases, while the other has connections to 19 cases. Both individuals have prior arrest records.
In addition to these arrests, the police chief reported progress in other cases. On September 19, Assistant Sub-Inspector Abdul Jabbar was injured during a robbery attempt in the New Karachi Industrial Area. Police apprehended two suspects, Sultan Gul and Abrar Namdar, on September 23, recovering the weapon used in the crime. Furthermore, police arrested Ashiq Hussain for the murder of Police Constable Chaman Abbas and for injuring Adil in the Super Highway Industrial Area.
Another suspect, Zafar Ali Asghar, was detained for the murder of Court Police officer Akram on August 2 in Quaidabad. Additionally, three suspects—Ali Hassan, Abdullah, and Shaban—were arrested for injuring Assistant Sub-Inspector Naseeruddin during an armed robbery within the Preedy police station limits on July 24. The police chief emphasized that, compared to last year, street crimes have decreased by 22 percent this year.
