SUKKUR: Awami Tehreek convened a gathering in Sukkur on Sunday, under the banner of the “Save Sindh’s Lands and Resources Conference.” Participants expressed grave concern regarding the escalating lawlessness and extremism in the region, warning against conspiracies aimed at inciting unrest reminiscent of the notorious Masjid Manzilgah incident in Sukkur.
The speakers at the event made it clear that Sindh would not tolerate extremism, violence, or chaos in its historic homeland. Central organizer Advocate Vasand Thari, along with other notable figures such as Noor Ahmed Katiar, the newly elected president of Sukkur District Ayaz Kalwar, and leaders Mansoor Bapar, Sarwan Jatoi, Sachal Bhatti, Zulfiqar Mirani, and Sarvaich Sindhi, articulated their commitment to the province. They described Sindh as their “mother” and vowed to continue their struggle against the amendments to the Irsa Act, corporate farming, and other conspiracies they deemed anti-Sindh and anti-people.
The participants also highlighted concerns about imperialist forces allegedly conspiring to displace the Hindu population from Sindh. They recalled that such extremism had taken root under General Zia’s regime and noted that extremists are now threatening Sindhi communities with violence and spreading hatred through social media. The leaders called on the government to take immediate action against these extremists, whose hate-fueled rallies and public threats remain unchecked.
