KARACHI: Faculty members at Khairpur Medical College have urged the Government of Sindh to appoint a Principal in accordance with Section V(22) of PMDC Regulations 2018, ahead of the new MBBS session 2025 admissions. The faculty demands, appointment of Principal as per PMDC Regulations 2018, Principal should possess Level 3 qualification as stipulated in Section V(22). Current Principal, Dr. Rukhsar Ali Shahani, holds only Level 2 qualification, violating regulations.
Faculty members have warned of an academic session boycott, if their demands aren’t met, citing concerns over regulatory compliance and quality education. Faculty members of Khairpur Medical College raised concerns and said that Principal KMC instead of strengthening faculty, focusing upon to disturb the college with his partial actions. They said that as the Sindh Health department government of Sindh given him as additional authority of drawing and disbursing Powers with Co-signature of Medical Superintendent of KMC civil Hospital Khairpur, he only focused to earn money through Kickbacks.
They said that many irregularities like the bodies lying in the mortuary of Khairpur Medical College Civil Hospital Khairpur for three months have begun to decay due to malfunctioning of the hospital’s cooling system, Saline solution was used in place of vital fever-reducing medication in the pediatric ICU issues, medicine procurement scandal and other issues which questioned mark the credibility of the Khairpur KMC.
