RAWALPINDI: In a decisive display of military strength, security forces in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) neutralized four terrorists during two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) on Sunday. This significant action follows a recent tragic incident in North Waziristan, where a suicide bomber employed a rickshaw-mounted improvised explosive device (IED) to target security personnel, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals, including four police officers and two army soldiers.

The first operation, conducted in North Waziristan, involved an intense exchange of fire between army troops and the militants, culminating in the elimination of two terrorists identified as “Khawarij.” One of these individuals was confirmed to be Insaf Ullah, a figure implicated in previous terrorist activities. The military’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) described the operation as critical, especially in light of the recent attack that highlighted the persistent threat posed by extremist groups in the region.

The second operation took place in Khyber district, where troops targeted a terrorist hideout. This encounter resulted in the death of two additional militants, with three others sustaining injuries during the firefight. Security forces seized an array of weapons and ammunition from the deceased terrorists, who were reportedly active in multiple attacks against law enforcement agencies and civilian populations.

Following the successful operations, both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued statements praising the bravery and efficacy of the armed forces. President Zardari paid tribute to the security personnel, reiterating his commitment to sustained actions against terrorism until it is entirely eradicated from the nation. He emphasized that the entire country stands united with the security forces in this ongoing fight.

Prime Minister Sharif echoed these sentiments, asserting that the government will continue its relentless pursuit of terrorists, and that the nation supports the military’s efforts to combat this menace. His remarks reflect a broader consensus within Pakistan regarding the importance of addressing the terrorism threat to ensure national stability and security.

The ongoing operations and the strong governmental support signal a concerted effort to reinforce security in K-P, a region often plagued by militant activities. The ISPR has announced that sanitization operations will continue in the affected areas to root out remaining terrorists, showcasing Pakistan’s determination to restore peace and safety for its citizens. This robust response underscores the government’s commitment to counter-terrorism and its resolve to protect the integrity of the nation amidst persistent challenges.
