The Israeli parliament has passed a bill to impose a ban on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). The legislation prohibits contacts between Israeli authorities and the agency, which provides aid to Palestinian refugees.
UNRWA’s Chief, Philippe Lazzarini, condemned the decision, stating that the ban will exacerbate the suffering of Palestinians, particularly in Gaza. He described the parliamentary vote as a dangerous precedent. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured that sustainable humanitarian aid will remain accessible to Gaza in the present and future, stating that UNRWA staff should be held accountable for any terrorist activities against Israel.
