SUKKUR: : A 13-year-old girl who was reportedly sexually abused in a brothel near Sindhri, district Mirpurkhas, has died in the hospital two days after being admitted in a critical condition. Authorities have filed an FIR under the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act.
Reports indicate that the girl was allegedly assaulted at a brothel operated by her parents, Shirimity Rani and Heero Kolhi, in the Fouji Ranghar area. Following the assault, she was taken to Mirpurkhas Hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries, with initial medical findings attributing her death to severe infection and bleeding.
SHO Sanjay Kumar of Dilbar Mahar Police Station, on behalf of the state, registered FIR No. 17/2024 under Sections 366-A and 371-A of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act, 2018. The FIR names the girl’s mother, Shirimity Rani, and the alleged assailant, Ramal Kolhi.
Police report that Rani and Heero Kolhi allegedly operated the brothel where the assault took place. Both parents have been taken into custody, although the alleged assailant remains at large. This case highlights a grim instance of child exploitation and underscores the need for reinforced legal protections in vulnerable communities.
