KHYBER: A monthly performance review meeting for Rescue 1122 Khyber was held under the leadership of District Emergency Officer Engineer Shariq Riaz Khattak, with participation from district officials. The meeting aimed to assess the operational effectiveness and response to emergencies across the district.
Emergency Officer Engineer Burial Mukhtiar presented the monthly report, detailing the services rendered by Rescue 1122 during the past month. According to the report, Rescue 1122 responded to a total of 386 emergencies, providing critical rescue services to 386 injured individuals and patients throughout various incidents. In October alone, the emergency service facilitated care for victims of 28 road traffic accidents.
The report highlighted a concerning variety of incidents, including 244 medical emergencies, five fire incidents, and six gunshot wounds or altercations. Additionally, one explosion and 22 recovery operations were conducted during the month. Under the ambulance referral service, 146 patients referred by doctors were transferred to various hospitals, both within and outside the district, under the supervision of Rescue 1122’s trained staff.
The Rescue 1122 control room received a total of 12,905 calls in October, although many were identified as unnecessary or prank calls. In light of the data presented, Engineer Shariq Riaz Khattak emphasized the need to reduce the rate of accidents across the district.
