ISLAMABAD: Dr. Asim Yusuf, personal physician of the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has arrived at Aadiyala Jail to conduct a medical examination of his patient.
Dr. Yusuf’s visit is significant, as it follows directives from the Islamabad High Court to ensure the founder’s health and well-being while in custody. Accompanied by a medical board consisting of three doctors from PIMS Hospital, Dr. Yusuf stated that a comprehensive medical assessment would be conducted today, which aims to evaluate the health status of the PTI leader amidst concerns regarding his treatment in jail.
In a media briefing outside the jail, Dr. Yusuf expressed his commitment to ensuring that the PTI founder receives appropriate medical attention, stating, “Today, we will carry out a complete medical examination.” The establishment of a medical board to oversee this process reflects the judiciary’s recognition of the rights of detainees to receive adequate medical care, a crucial aspect of maintaining human rights standards within the penal system.
