LAHORE: Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora has announced that 3,000 Sikh pilgrims from India will visit Pakistan to celebrate the birthday of Baba Guru Nanak this year.
In his announcement, Arora emphasized the intention to make the celebrations historic, revealing that the Chief Minister of Punjab has increased the budget for the Minority Affairs Department by 200%. This budget enhancement is aimed at ensuring that the festivities are safe and memorable for the visiting pilgrims. He assured that comprehensive security and logistical arrangements would be put in place to facilitate the Sikhs’ visit.
“The government is committed to ensuring that Sikh pilgrims can celebrate their spiritual heritage in a safe and welcoming environment,” Arora stated. Furthermore, he indicated plans to issue minority cards to 50,000 families in December, which will provide them with better access to social services and enhance their sense of belonging within the country.
