LAHORE: United Business Group (UBG) Patron-in-Chief SM Tanveer has called on the government to introduce an inclusive winter relief package for industries, designed to support the sector through seasonal challenges without restrictive eligibility requirements. The appeal comes as industrial units across Pakistan grapple with rising costs and fluctuating energy supplies, particularly during the winter months, which typically see increased energy demands due to reduced gas supplies.
“We are urging the government to avoid unnecessary distinctions within the industrial sector,” Tanveer stated, highlighting that an inclusive package would bolster Pakistan’s economy by supporting job stability and enhancing the industrial sector’s competitiveness in regional and global markets. He assured the government of UBG’s willingness to work collaboratively on initiatives that drive economic growth, underscoring the importance of cohesive public-private efforts in addressing Pakistan’s industrial challenges.
Tanveer’s appeal is reflective of broader concerns within Pakistan’s business community, which has frequently called for measures to ensure energy security and affordable power solutions to sustain production levels. A streamlined winter relief package would not only support industrial continuity but also signal a positive step towards strengthening the resilience of Pakistan’s economy amidst ongoing economic pressures.
