HYDERABAD: Six police personnel, including three officers, were dismissed in Hyderabad amid serious allegations of extortion. The dismissals come after a rigorous internal investigation revealed that these individuals were allegedly involved in a disturbing scheme of kidnapping and ransom, which has drawn attention to longstanding issues within law enforcement. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hyderabad announced the immediate termination of Sub-Inspectors Asif Jatoi, Saifullah Gill, and Waheed Panhwar, along with police constables Zubair, Zohaib, and Mehmood Gujar, for their reported involvement in the illicit activity.
According to the SSP, the investigation uncovered that the dismissed officers had orchestrated a plot where citizens were abducted and then coerced to pay hefty sums in exchange for their release. Through these tactics, the officers reportedly extorted approximately 1.9 million rupees from unsuspecting citizens, exploiting their positions to intimidate victims. Sub-Inspector Waheed Panhwar, along with one constable, has already been taken into custody, facing criminal charges connected to the allegations.
