RIYDAH: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 11 to attend the Second Joint Arab Islamic Summit, where he will focus on the escalating Palestinian crisis and the ongoing Israeli aggression in the Middle East. His participation in the summit will provide an opportunity to reaffirm Pakistan’s strong and unwavering support for Palestine. The prime minister is expected to call for an immediate, unconditional ceasefire to halt the ongoing violence in Gaza, which has sparked widespread international condemnation.
A government spokesperson stated, “Pakistan’s stance on Palestine remains firm, and we will continue to demand a halt to the genocide taking place in Gaza.” During the summit, Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to engage in crucial discussions with leaders from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League, who are convening in Riyadh to address the worsening regional situation.
Alongside the Palestinian issue, the prime minister’s visit will focus on strengthening bilateral relations with Saudi Arabia. Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Minister of Information Attaullah Tarar, will hold meetings with Saudi officials to discuss areas of economic cooperation, particularly in solar energy, mining, agriculture, and investments.
