SUKKUR: On the fifth consecutive day of protests in Kashmore, citizens, traders, and the Hindu community continued their demonstrations against the escalating lawlessness and rising incidents of kidnapping. The rally, which included civil society members, Hindu community representatives, traders, and the relatives of the kidnapped, was organized to demand the safe return of Rajkumar and other hostages. The protesters marched to the Indus Highway in Kashmore, where they staged a sit-in.
The demonstrators raised slogans calling for the immediate recovery of the hostages and peace in the regions of Kashmore and Kandhkot. The rally underscored the increasing concern over the growing incidents of abductions and extortion in the area. Naresh Kumar, a representative of the Hindu community, expressed the community’s growing frustration, revealing that many were considering drastic measures, such as selling their properties at a 50% discount, in an effort to leave the region due to the deteriorating security situation.
The protestors criticized the government’s handling of law and order, specifically pointing to the claims made by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh and the Chief Minister of Sindh, who have blamed the caretaker government for the ongoing crisis. The demonstrators pointed out that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has been in power in the region for over 16 years, yet the law and order situation continues to worsen.
Members of the Hindu community reported that many had already migrated to India, leaving their homes with heavy hearts due to the safety concerns in their native areas. The protesters vowed that if the hostages were not released soon, they would escalate their protest by staging an indefinite sit-in at the Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan border until the recovery of the kidnapped individuals.
