GHARO: A tragic multi-vehicle accident on Pakistan’s National Highway near Gharo town, in Sindh’s Thatta district, has claimed the lives of at least five individuals, with several others injured. Dense fog, which severely impaired visibility, was a major contributing factor to the collision. Three victims died at the scene, and two more succumbed to their injuries later in the hospital, according to local health officials. The deceased have been identified as Shoaib, Rehman, Nadeem, Moin, and Gul Zaman.
Four of the injured are in critical condition and were transferred to Karachi for urgent treatment. The accident involved six vehicles, which collided in the thick fog. Rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene, transferring the victims to Civil Hospital Thatta. A total of 14 people were injured, with three confirmed dead-on impact. Rescue officials reported the scene was chaotic due to the poor visibility, which is a common hazard during Pakistan’s early winter months.
In a separate incident on the M.M. Road near Darya Khan in Punjab, a passenger bus collided with a parked trailer due to the same fog-related visibility issues. This crash led to two fatalities and six injuries. The bus was traveling from Uch Sharif to Rawalpindi when the accident occurred. These incidents highlight the growing concern over road safety during the winter months, as dense fog continues to pose significant challenges for drivers. Authorities have urged caution and emphasized the importance of reduced speeds and heightened awareness during foggy conditions.
