SUKKUR: At the ACS Qatar Chapter and RSC MEA Regional Conference held in Doha from November 3 to 5, students from Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur showcased their academic talent and research skills. Three students from the Institute of Chemistry, Rumaisa Bukhari, Anmol Gul, and Mehar Bano, participated in the prestigious event, which was led by Dr. Bhajan Lal Bhatia, Associate Professor of the Institute of Chemistry and Faculty Advisor to the ACS-SALU Chapter.
Dr. Bhatia highlighted that the participation of these students was fully funded by the American Chemical Society (ACS), which covered all expenses including registration, accommodation, and travel. This support was made possible through the ACS-SALU International Student Chapter, which received funding under the ACS Student Communities Professional Meeting Grant.
The conference marked a notable achievement as it was the first-ever event organized through a significant collaboration between the ACS and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). Dr. Bhatia also expressed gratitude to Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushik for his support, noting that the process of applying for grants and securing necessary documents has become much smoother since his appointment.
The conference theme, “Synergy for Sustainability: Driving a Greener Future through Chemistry,” provided an opportunity for the students to engage with leading professionals, researchers, and industry leaders from across the globe. Attendees included representatives from prestigious institutions such as MIT, Harvard, Oxford, and Cambridge, as well as from countries including the USA, UK, Canada, China, Japan, and India. This international gathering allowed the students to discuss cutting-edge research, exchange ideas, and form valuable partnerships that will influence their future careers in chemistry.
