KARACHI: Pakistani actress Faryal Mehmood recently shared her thoughts on the passing of her aunt, the legendary actress Roohi Bano, who had endured a life of emotional turmoil, particularly in her later years. Faryal, reflecting on her aunt’s struggles, described her passing as a “relief” from the immense hardships she faced. Roohi Bano, celebrated for her powerful performances in Pakistani television and film, had long battled schizophrenia, a condition that worsened with age. Faryal revealed that Bano’s life took an even darker turn after the tragic and untimely death of her only son, Ali, who had been her anchor and caretaker. His loss left her isolated and deeply affected, though family members, including Faryal, tried to support her.
Bano’s final days were spent with her sister in Turkey, where she ultimately found solace in the presence of family. Faryal recalled the emotional toll her aunt’s illness took on her and expressed a bittersweet sense of comfort, knowing that Bano had finally escaped the pain and turmoil that had overshadowed her last years. She also shared poignant memories of her aunt’s career and personal struggles, noting that, even in her illness, Bano remained dignified and resilient.
