KARACHI: Mayor Murtaza Wahab, a prominent figure from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), appealed to the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to prioritize the nation’s welfare over personal interests. Wahab, known for his vocal stance on national unity, emphasized that divisive politics have consistently proven detrimental to Pakistan’s progress and stability.

Addressing the ongoing political turbulence, the mayor stressed that resolving political differences should be done through democratic and constructive dialogue, rather than through methods that exacerbate chaos. His remarks seemed directed at PTI’s founder, whose confrontational rhetoric and actions have stirred political unrest in recent months. Wahab pointed out that attempts to disrupt national harmony only hinder the country’s development and progress, urging leaders to embrace collaborative efforts for the greater good.

Highlighting his party’s position, Wahab reiterated that the PPP is committed to strengthening Pakistan’s democratic institutions. “We will continue to work through the parliament,” he affirmed, underscoring the importance of upholding democratic processes despite efforts from certain quarters to sow discord. His comments reflect the PPP’s broader strategy of prioritizing institutional integrity and national unity amidst a politically charged atmosphere.

Wahab’s call for moving beyond personal or party interests and fostering unity comes at a time when political divisions are deepening, and the country faces critical challenges in both governance and security. His remarks serve as a reminder of the necessity for mature political discourse that seeks to bridge divides and foster progress through democratic channels.
