LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz addressed a ceremony in Dera Ghazi Khan, where she emphasized the importance of truth in the face of widespread misinformation. She stated that individuals who lack performance often resort to falsehoods to create misleading narratives, adding, “While truth is still lacing up its boots, lies make their way around the world.”
Maryam Nawaz attributed the rapid spread of misinformation to the influence of social media platforms, which she believes exacerbate the problem. She also took aim at those who manipulate young people into engaging in criminal activities, leading them to face long prison sentences. “These manipulators have their own children safely abroad while others’ children pay the price with ten years in jail,” she remarked, highlighting the disparity in consequences for the privileged and the disadvantaged.
During her visit to Dera Ghazi Khan, the Chief Minister also distributed merit scholarships to deserving students, underlining the government’s continued focus on education and youth development. She reaffirmed her commitment to empowering the younger generation through opportunities for academic and personal growth.
