KARACHI: Members of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), both from the National and Provincial Assemblies, held a protest against drug dealers at the Super Highway Sohrab Goth. A large number of MQM workers and citizens participated in the demonstration.
During the protest, Iqbal Khan Mehsud, the elected Member of National Assembly (MNA) from Sohrab Goth, addressed the crowd, condemning the dominance of drug dealers in the area and the purposeful silence of the police. He claimed that under the protection of political and governmental authorities, the Town Chairman of Sohrab Goth is involved in water theft, while local police are providing cover for illegal activities.
Mehsud highlighted the failure of police authorities to take action, despite his repeated calls to the police officers. He also mentioned that he had written a letter to the Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) to highlight these issues, but no action had been taken thus far.
The MNA demanded the suspension of the SHO of Sohrab Goth and the SHO of Sachal, calling for immediate accountability. After receiving assurances from the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sohrab Goth that the demands would be met, the protest was called off.
