ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the leaders of the world community have expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Prince Karim Aga Khan, lauding his visionary leadership, unwavering faith, and boundless generosity.
In a heartfelt post on his X handle, Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Aga Khan’s enduring legacy, which spanned across borders and brought hope, progress, and lasting change to countless communities in need. He described the late Aga Khan as a remarkable leader, deeply devoted to uplifting marginalized communities worldwide. Through his tireless work in poverty alleviation, healthcare, and gender equality, Aga Khan championed the cause of those most in need, leaving a profound and lasting impact on millions of lives.
Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani also conveyed his condolences, calling the late Aga Khan a great humanitarian whose commitment to peace and humanity was unparalleled. He highlighted the Aga Khan’s lifelong dedication to social welfare, particularly in the fields of education and healthcare. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar expressed his deep sadness over the passing, acknowledging the Aga Khan’s immense philanthropic contributions worldwide.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres described the Aga Khan as a symbol of peace, tolerance, and compassion. Guterres conveyed his condolences to the Aga Khan’s family and the global Ismaili community. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau praised the Aga Khan’s lifelong dedication to promoting peace, prosperity, and tackling global challenges such as poverty, education, and gender inequality.
Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai also shared her sentiments, acknowledging the Aga Khan’s lasting impact on education, health, and development. “His legacy will continue through the incredible work he led,” she stated. Other leaders, including former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, ex-Foreign Minister John Baird, and New Democrat Party leader Jagmeet Singh, also expressed their grief.
