HOUSTON: The Pakistan Association of Greater Houston (PAGH) marked International Women’s Day in a distinctive way this year, integrating the celebration with the religious essence of Ramazan. The event, held at Pakistan Center Houston, paid tribute to some of the most revered women in Islamic history, highlighting their enduring legacy as role models for women across generations.
Speakers at the gathering shed light on the inspiring lives of Hazrat Ayesha (RA), Hazrat Khadija (RA), and Hazrat Maryam (AS), emphasizing their strength, wisdom, and unwavering faith. Their contributions to society, resilience in the face of challenges, and commitment to justice were presented as guiding beacons for women today.
The event also honored Fatima Jinnah and Begum Ra’ana Liaquat Ali Khan, acknowledging their immense sacrifices and leadership during the Pakistan Movement. Speakers described them as symbols of courage and perseverance, particularly for Pakistani women striving to make a difference in their communities.
Addressing the gathering, PAGH President Siraj Narsee underscored the critical role of women’s empowerment in societal progress, stating that no nation can thrive without ensuring equal opportunities for its women. The event was hosted by Syeda Falak Zehra, head of the PAGH Women’s Wing, who played a pivotal role in organizing the celebration.
The unique commemoration served as a reminder of the strength, wisdom, and resilience of women throughout history, reinforcing the importance of their contributions in both spiritual and social spheres.
