NEW DELHI: Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff are facing legal trouble over their endorsement of a pan masala advertisement.

According to Indian media reports, a Jaipur court has issued notices against the actors for allegedly promoting a misleading ad for Vimal Pan Masala. The court has summoned all parties to appear on March 19 at 10 a.m. and file their responses within 30 days of receiving the notice.

The notice was issued based on a complaint by Jaipur-based lawyer Yogendra Singh Badial, who alleges that the slogan “Dane dane mein hai kesar ka dum” (Every grain contains the strength of saffron) misleads the public. He argues that the advertisement falsely attributes qualities to Vimal Pan Masala that do not exist.

The ad claims that each grain contains the power of saffron, misleading consumers into buying the product under the impression that it contains an expensive and valuable ingredient. While saffron costs approximately ₹400,000 per kilogram, Vimal Pan Masala is sold for just ₹5, making it evident that no real saffron is included.

Badial contends that this deceptive marketing not only causes financial loss to consumers but also poses serious health risks. He has called for strict action and penalties against the company and the actors, along with an immediate ban on the advertisement to protect public health.

Previously, a similar complaint was filed in Kota, Rajasthan, against Bollywood actors endorsing another pan masala brand, ‘Elaichi,’ leading to legal proceedings against them.
