LAHORE: In a nail-biting clash at the Gaddafi Stadium, Peshawar Zalmi emerged victorious against Lahore Qalandars by a slender margin of 8 runs, sending shockwaves through the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine.
Despite a spectacular century from Rassie van der Dussen, Lahore Qalandars faced their fifth consecutive defeat in the tournament, adding to their woes. Van der Dussen’s heroic 105 off 52 balls was a valiant effort but fell short in securing a win for his team.
Throughout the chase, van der Dussen fought like a lone warrior, receiving minimal support from fellow batters. Shai Hope and Ahsan Bhatti made notable contributions, but it wasn’t enough to overhaul Zalmi’s formidable total.
Peshawar Zalmi’s victory was anchored by a dominant batting display, led by openers Babar Azam and Ayub. Their aggressive approach laid the foundation for Zalmi’s imposing total, with Azam falling just short of a half-century before Ayub took charge, smashing 88 runs off 55 balls.
Despite the Qalandars’ captain Shaheen Shah Afridi’s commendable bowling effort, claiming three crucial wickets, Zalmi managed to post a challenging total, ultimately clinching a thrilling victory.
The clash between these two powerhouse teams added another chapter of excitement and tension to the ongoing PSL season, leaving fans on the edge of their seats and further intensifying the competition in the tournament.
