LAHORE: Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf have etched their names in the T20 cricketing record books, surpassing the achievements of Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz by becoming the fastest Pakistani bowlers to reach 300 wickets in the shortest format of the game. Their milestone came during Lahore Qalandars’ dominant clash against Islamabad United in the ongoing PSL 10, highlighting the immense talent and skill both pacers bring to the table.
Afridi achieved the remarkable feat in his 216th T20 appearance, taking his 300th wicket when he dismissed Sahibzada Farhan. With this wicket, Afridi not only surpassed his compatriots Amir and Wahab but also became the fastest Pakistani bowler to reach 300 wickets, solidifying his place as one of the most potent pacers in world cricket. Haris Rauf followed suit by claiming his 300th wicket in his 228th T20 game, securing his position as the second-fastest Pakistani bowler to achieve this milestone.
The two Qalandars’ stars now stand ahead of Amir and Wahab, both of whom required 256 matches to reach the 300-wicket mark. This achievement further cements Afridi and Rauf’s standing as leading figures in T20 cricket, both domestically and internationally.
On the global stage, Afridi’s feat places him as the fourth-fastest bowler to achieve 300 T20 wickets, underscoring his growing stature as one of the premier fast bowlers in the world. Rauf, meanwhile, continues to make his own case as one of the finest modern-day pacers, particularly with his unrelenting pace and accuracy.
As Pakistan’s premier fast-bowling duo, Afridi and Rauf have shown that their impact on the game is not only felt through their wickets but also in their consistency and ability to deliver at crucial moments. Their achievement in surpassing Amir and Wahab also marks a significant shift in Pakistan’s T20 cricketing landscape, with both bowlers now firmly at the top of their game.
