In a case of violence against a motorcyclist in Defence, the young victim and his family have left their home, leaving their flat locked and vacant since the assault. The motorcyclist, a resident of Ranchhor Line, was returning home with his sister, Kalpana, when the attack took place, an incident that has sparked public outrage and demands for swift justice.
A citizen who witnessed a violent assault on a motorcyclist in Karachi’s upscale Defence area has stepped forward with key details and lodged a formal complaint against the attacker. Mohammad Saleem, who saw the incident unfold in the commercial lane of Khayaban-e-Ittehad, told Geo News that the altercation began after a minor collision between a car and a motorbike. “I saw the motorbike slightly touch the vehicle, and then suddenly the driver and a guard started beating the biker mercilessly — right in front of his sisters,” he said.
Saleem, who does not personally know the victim or the attackers, said he filed the first information report (FIR) simply out of a sense of civic duty. “I’m just a responsible citizen. What happened wasn’t right,” he added. The case has drawn public attention due to the brutality of the assault and the fact that it happened in broad daylight in front of the victim’s family. Police have since arrested the alleged assailant and vowed to pursue the case vigorously.
DIG Asad Raza emphasized that the video footage clearly shows the accused committing the attack, leaving little doubt about his involvement. The case was registered following a complaint from a citizen who witnessed the incident and recorded the video. Efforts are underway to maintain contact with the victim, while the complainant and other eyewitnesses will play a vital role in the ongoing investigation.
