MOSCOW: Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, has said that the recent US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities caused only minor damage and have not disrupted the country’s uranium enrichment programme.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday, Medvedev claimed that Iran’s nuclear fuel cycle remains intact, dismissing the American operation as ineffective. “Iran continues its uranium enrichment. Several countries are now even prepared to provide Tehran with nuclear warheads directly,” he asserted, without naming specific states.
The former Russian president also insisted that Iran’s political system has emerged stronger from the crisis. “The government is not only intact but more powerful than before. Even those who once opposed the Supreme Leader are now rallying behind him,” he said.
Medvedev further claimed that Israel remains under retaliatory pressure, with explosions reported across several cities, leaving Israeli citizens gripped by fear and uncertainty. No independent confirmation of these reports was provided.
Turning his focus to the United States, Medvedev accused Washington of becoming entangled in yet another military conflict. He directed pointed criticism at President Donald Trump, sarcastically referring to him as the “President of Peace.”
“Trump, once hailed for brokering peace, has now plunged his country into a new war,” Medvedev said. “Forget about the tainted Nobel Peace Prize — this is the legacy he should be remembered for. Congratulations on starting what could be the beginning of something far worse.”
The statement reflects Moscow’s growing alarm over the spiralling conflict in the Middle East and marks a sharp escalation in rhetorical confrontation with Washington, as fears of a broader regional war mount.
