DERA ISMAIL KHAN: An interactive seminar on emotional intelligence was held at Government Girls Degree College No. 1 in Dera Ismail Khan, highlighting the role of emotional awareness in personal development, relationships and leadership.
The session was led by Dr Iqra Abubakr, station commander and a medical doctor with an MBBS from King Edward Medical College and an FCPS specialization in pathology. In her address, she explained the concept of emotional intelligence through practical examples, stressing its relevance in everyday life and long-term success.
Dr Abubakr guided students on recognizing, managing and positively channeling their emotions, with particular emphasis on controlling anger and other intense feelings to improve decision-making. She said that while intellectual ability contributed to academic achievement, emotional intelligence was essential for real-life stability, healthy relationships and effective leadership.
Students participated actively, raising questions about emotional challenges and their impact on studies and daily life. Dr Abubakr responded with what organizers described as encouraging and insightful guidance, urging students to develop self-awareness and emotional balance.
College officials said the seminar was a constructive initiative that helped students build confidence, cultivate positive attitudes and take an important step towards personal and professional growth.
